Wrapping up work on the battery boxesTimer icon3h

Wrapping up my work on the battery boxes.

This is what assembled top looks like. I trimmed the cover with the idea of attaching more angles to it to contain the battery, but it didn't work due to geometry of everything -- it wasn't possible to "slide" in the battery. So I just closed the holes with rivets.

I still left the central part -- maybe, I can add an angle I can screw to that "lip", if I decide that I need more "stops" to keep the batteries in place.

The assembled top cover

Previously, I made some mounts / spacers that would go on top of the battery covers to mount the Bussmann 37700 Power Relay Modules. In these new boxes, since I have very good access to the top covers, and because these top covers get extra 1/16" spacing due to the angles, I decided to put screws "upside down", with countersunk head going into the box, with PRM modules sitting directly on top of the cover.

However, these PRM modules have a long counter-rotating feature that I had to shorten to make them fit.

Trimming the pin

Wrapping everything up, this is how installation looks like. The nice thing about this arrangement is that (in theory) the engine power distribution uses very short wires. Battery wires to two PRM modules, then short wires to the diodes of the engine bus. SDS EFI (which is what I plan to use) will go in the same bay as the engine bus).
