Installing the Archer antenna.Timer icon2h

Back to wiring the wings.

One of the challenges with the wire bundles I had was securing them in a way that they cannot move through the snap bushings. I was able to find some hardware from ClickBond or Amphenol that looked like it will work, but I couldn't find a place to buy them. Or they were only sold in large quantities.

Then eventually I thought of looking through eBay, and voilà! I found some Boeing specific parts that looked exactly like what I wanted!

These are the parts (BACN10TS3-10 and BACN10MK3-45).

And this is how I intend to use them. I guess, my airplane will have some big boy parts!

I also installed the Archer antenna I got from Aircraft Spruce onto the left wingtip. Somehow I didn't take any photos, though. I attached the antenna itself to a 3/4"x3/4"x1/16" angle, then attached the angle with the antenna to the wingtip using two #10-32 screws.

While working on the RG400 termination, I tried using solder sleeves, but somehow I wasn't able to get the solder to attach the grounding wire properly. All the solder wicked somewhere and the joint was all dry.

So, I resorted to regular soldering using my Kester 63/37 solder.

The end result. I also soldered the terminals since I didn't have correct crimper for them.
