Working on aileron pushrods.Timer icon1.5h

September 19, 2025

Today I started working on aileron pushrods.

A little bit of work on aileron spacers and pushrods. First, I filled the threaded end rods with epoxy. The idea is to keep drill bits straight while drilling the holes. I don't know if that would make any difference or not, but I thought that it won't hurt.

Threaded rod end.

Then I used my lathe to machine a set of spacers for the ailerons mounting. Also, I machined a Delrin rod for the aileron stops -- a popular modification.

Machined spacers.

Then I realized that I machined Delrin stops for the wrong set of spacers (the ones used for the hinges when I should have made them for the ones used for pushrods). Luckily, the pushrod spacers are shorter so I just used my mill to shorten the parts.

Corrected spacers.

Finally, I cleaned the powder coating from the inside of the pushrod tubes so threaded rods fit.

Removed powder coating so end rods fit.
